Small Acts of Friendship update

Regular activities for patients in the elderly care wards are now becoming established.  Weekly Hand Massage sessions have been well received by both male and female patients.  Overall patients report they find the massage relaxing. Patients do respond differently, for example, some close their eyes and listen to the relaxing music, whilst other patients enjoy talking about their lives to the SAF activity staff.  Paola is recording patient’s engagement, comments, the differing responses and any mood changes post massage by individuals.

Two hairdressers are now delivering services for both male and female patients.  One male patient reported that he was very happy to have his hair cut which had not been professionally cut for eight years.

Look out for the professional therapists in their Small Acts polo shirts.

Welcome also to Volunteers’ Robin who is befriending on Vallance Ward, Anita on Chichester Ward and Robert who will be starting soon to assist with the Digital Reminiscence Therapy.  More about this next time.
