Small Acts of Friendship

Suzy and I have had a busy couple of months in the office working on our Small Acts of Friendship campaign. The coordinator post has now been advertised and we were very pleased to have lots of good applications - there is a really good sense of enthusiasm for this project within the elderly care wards at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. We know that the NHS staff on those wards do an amazing job of keeping their patients interested and engaged with the world, but with so much other work that needs to be done it is impossible to ensure that the activities reach all the patients in a coordinated way. This is the difference that our coordinator will make and the research project, supported by BSMS, will be evaluating the impact.

Our next step, once the coordinator is appointed, is to appeal to craft and DIY enthusiasts to make the sort of items which help keep busy and anxious hands and minds calm, so please watch this space for the downloadable instructions of what we are looking for.
