COVID-19 UPDATE: We are continuing to accept funding requests from front line clinicians in the NHS Trusts we support.
Friends Trustees consider grant applications at their quarterly Board meetings.
NHS clinical staff working in Brighton & Hove for the following Trusts can apply for Friends funding.
Please contact the Friends office on firstname.lastname@example.org or complete the application form below.
Please read the criteria carefully before applying and ensure that your NHS clinical director has approved the request. We are only able to consider grant applications made by NHS staff members.
If you have a query you would like to discuss please contact Sarah Mchugh at the Friends office on 01273 664936.
1. The request should be for equipment or services which will provide the best care for patients and offers best value for money (not necessarily the cheapest). If necessary, please contact your Trust purchasing department who can assist in gathering costings to inform your application. The Friends Trustees normally fund new equipment but can also fund replacement equipment if it offers significant new benefits for patient comfort.
2. Please provide details of how the equipment will benefit patients. This may be how it works, what makes it different from existing items, the number of patients that will benefit etc. Trustees are looking for evidence of how the equipment will help in providing the best treatment and care for patients. It can be helpful to give an idea of how many patients would benefit; for example, regular clinic days and numbers attending.
3. Ongoing revenue costs (e.g. for maintenance, repairs and consumables) are the responsibility of the department that will receive the item.
4. Requests must be authorised by your Divisional Manager or Clinical Lead so please allow plenty of time to obtain their authorisation.
Thank you for your generosity. The Vascular and Polytrauma OT department have recently been given wheelchairs: these are already making a huge difference to patients having rehabilitation on Level 8.Anna Shelton, Occupational Therapist (Vascular), Royal Sussex County Hospital
