Bringing Christmas Cheer to older patients

Children from Hove Junior School and St Andrews Primary School visited the Elderly Care Wards at Royal Sussex County Hospital to hand out Christmas Gift Bags.
The children had collected and filled the bags with small gifts as part of the Small Acts of Friendship campaign - a unique programme to help elderly patients retain dignity, social activity, mobility and well-being whilst in hospital.
Patients enjoyed meeting and chatting with the young people and said the visit had really brightened up their day.
Karen Lee, Ward Manager on Jowers Ward was delighted to welcome the children onto the wards and pleased that each patient received their own personal bag.  Karen commented ‘It’s the small touches that mean such a lot to our patients’.

Small Acts of Friendship is funded by local charity Friends of Brighton & Hove Hospitals and we welcome donations to support the project year round.  Visit www.justgiving.com/fbhh to make your donation.
